Million Dollar Spaghetti: 5-Layer Delicious Casserole

Million Dollar Spaghetti is a rich, flavorful casserole with savory meat sauce, creamy cheese, and layers of pasta. Perfect for family meals or gatherings.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground beef,

1 pound Italian sausage,

1 small onion, chopped,

2 cloves garlic, minced,

24 ounces marinara sauce,

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning,

Salt and pepper, to taste,

8 ounces cream cheese, softened, 1/4 cup sour cream,

1 cup cottage cheese or ricotta cheese,

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese,

2/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese,

16 ounces spaghetti noodles,

3 tablespoons butter,

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese,

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer while you prepare the pasta and cheese mixture.
  • Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted water until al dente. Drain and return to the pot. Add the butter and toss until melted.
  • In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese (or ricotta), shredded mozzarella, and Parmesan. Mix until smooth.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread half of the buttered spaghetti in the baking dish. Layer with the cheese mixture.
  • Add the remaining spaghetti on top of the cheese mixture and press down.
  • Pour the meat sauce over the spaghetti and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can make this casserole ahead of time and refrigerate it for a day before baking. It also freezes well for up to 3 months. For a vegetarian version, replace the meat with sautéed vegetables.
