Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

2. Toss potatoes with 1 tbsp vegetable oil.

3. Whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

4. Gradually whisk in cold milk until smooth. Let batter rest for 5 minutes.

5. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

6. Dip potato fries in batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

7. Carefully add battered fries to hot oil in batches.

8. Fry for 3-4 minutes, flip, and fry for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown.

9. Remove fries, drain on paper towels, and season with salt.

Notes

For extra crispy fries, double fry. Try different seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, or Parmesan cheese. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes for a healthier option. Serve with ketchup, mayonnaise, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce
